It's no secret that Bob Parsons, founder and CEO of PXG, has a deep love for those who have served in the military. This certainly makes sense given the time Parsons spent in Vietnam as a member of the US Marine Corps. Now Parsons is looking for other ways to give back to those who serve.
The Scottsdale-based company announced that it is implementing the PXG for Heroes program, a special military price 50 percent off the recommended retail for 0311 Gen1 irons and wedges. Offer available to all active duty, active reserve, retired, and veterans of the US Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard. The program is expected to expand in the coming weeks to include individual, fairways, hybrid and club riders.
"I owe everything I've ever accomplished to the Marine Corps, so I try to honor my military roots in everything I do," Parsons said. Apart from Bob and his wife, Renee Parsons' philanthropic leanings towards the military, nearly all of the company's products are named with the armed forces in mind. For example, 0311 is the Marine Corps special military code for gunner.
Although the company recently introduced the 0311 Gen2 iron, the original version was built with many technologies. The iron is of hollow construction with a thermoplastic elastomer filling to maintain sound and feel without the tinny sound sometimes found in thin irons. At the back of the club, weights are placed around the iron to promote forgiveness.

PXG 0311 irons cost $350 per club, meaning a set of 4 irons costs $2450. With 50 percent off PXG on Heroes, this set will drop to $1,225, which is more expensive. corresponds to the prices the major manufacturers charge for irons in this category.
